Curious about our cotton potholder loops? Get answers about heat use, sizes, mixing with Friendly Loom®, restocks, colors and subscriptions.
Our new cotton loops have brought a lot of excitement, along with some great questions.
We want you to feel fully informed about what you’re weaving with, where they come from, and how they fit into your potholder world.
Keep On Looping is a woman led, family run American business based in small town Iowa, and every color we release is designed in house with the nostalgia and joy of handmade craft in mind.
As we’ve grown, we’ve learned that producing the type of cotton loops our community loves requires very specific equipment and expertise.
After exploring all available options, we partnered with an overseas mill that specializes in premium cotton spinning and can meet the exact standards our loops require. This partnership allows us to maintain quality, keep our batches consistent, and support our team here in Iowa while continuing to invest in our local economy.
We are committed to transparency at every step and remain open to future opportunities to bring production even closer to home.
Our focus is, and always will be, creating beautiful, reliable loops that make your crafting experience a joy.
Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions our community has asked since launch. Whether you're curious about materials, heat safety, restocks, colors or subscriptions, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.
FAQs
Yes. Our loops are made from high quality 100 percent cotton. They weave smoothly, feel soft in the hand, and create durable, long lasting potholders.
Yes. Cotton naturally handles heat well. These loops create sturdy potholders you can use safely in the kitchen. As always, avoid direct flame and use with normal caution.
Our loops are made overseas in China. We are fully transparent about this and it is clearly noted on our packaging. For three years we searched for a U.S. mill, contacting more than sixty companies. Many were unable to produce them, some declined, and others were priced far beyond what the average customer could reasonably afford. We continue to keep the door open for future U.S. production while maintaining quality and fair pricing.
At this time, no. Even though international shipping costs and tariffs have increased worldwide, we are currently able to absorb those expenses and still offer our loops at a competitive price. We always aim to keep our products as affordable as possible, although future global changes may affect this.
No. We worked hard to price our loops at a fair, comparable level while offering improved quality, color consistency, and small business care behind every product.
Yes. You can mix our loops with Friendly Loom® 10 inch loops. The size and stretch are compatible and they weave together just fine. They do not work on 7 inch looms.
We hear you. Many customers have asked for 7 inch loops. We would love to offer them in the future. This project is extremely large and we are rolling it out step by step as a small business. We started with 10 inch loops because that is our most popular size and the best first step from a cost and production standpoint. Bringing 7 inch loops to life will take time, careful planning, and financial pacing, but it is on our radar.
No. The finished potholder is not loose or floppy. The cotton makes it feel a bit softer and more flexible in your hands, which many people enjoy in the kitchen. It still holds its structure beautifully.
Not right now. We are in an active development period where colors are evolving and changing as we learn what customers love most. Once our palette settles into a more consistent direction, we can look into creating a color wheel. For now, we do not want to promise one until we know what the long term lineup will be.
If a color sells out, the “Add to Cart” button will automatically switch to a “Notify Me When Back in Stock” button. You can enter your email there to let us know you want that color to return.
We use those notification lists to measure interest. It is truly your vote. The more requests we see for a color, the more likely we are to bring it back during a future restock.
We will also keep sold out colors visible in a special collection on our website so you can easily browse past colors and add your name to any you'd love to see again.
If there is a color you want, make sure to join the notification list so we know. Every sign up helps us decide what to restock next.
No. Anyone can purchase our loops without joining the subscription or membership.
The subscription simply adds fun perks like VIP status, early access to new colors, special member patterns, and first dibs a few days before colors go live for the public.
This month is a little different because we are waiting on packaging to arrive before we can ship the loops, which is why we opened up pre-orders for our members a few weeks in advance.
