Baked Roast Apples

Mmm! How fragrant! Baked roast apples are simply fantastic as a Christmas dessert or for a sweet afternoon treat. And they look so lovely too! Enjoy!


  • 4 apples
  • 250g ( 1 cup) spelt flour
  • 125g ( 1/2 cup) cold butter or vegan alternative
  • 25g (2 Tbsp) raw cane sugar
  • Filling to taste, e.g., jam, chopped nuts and/or almonds, marzipan, raisins


  1. Knead the dough ingredients well and chill for 1 hour.
  2. Peel and core the apples.
  3. Fill the resulting core holes with the filling of your choice.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a round shape.
  5. Wrap the apples with the dough.
  6. Form decorative leaves with leftover dough. An apple stem can be created using an almond.
  7. Bake at 340 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
