The Choroi Diatonic C-Flute (7+1 holes) is a classic school flute featuring German fingering and a diatonic C-major scale. Unlike traditional recorders, Choroi flutes produce a mild, warm tone that responds to gentle breath pressure. This allows for relaxed, flowing play and is especially appreciated when playing music in groups.
The German fingering system uses eight holes (7+1) and avoids forked-finger combinations. The flute's specially shaped finger holes also make it possible to play half tones by partially covering them. This allows players to explore notes beyond the basic diatonic scale while maintaining a comfortable fingering technique.
Choroi flutes are known for their light, flexible sound, which has a voice-like quality compared with traditional instruments. Rather than actively blowing into the flute, players use a relaxed outward breath to develop its characteristic tone. Natural mouth and lip positioning, along with gentle finger contact, also contribute to smooth, expressive playing.
This model features German fingering. Players looking for the alternative Choroi fingering system can explore the 8+1-hole model, which includes an additional finger hole for the left-hand little finger.
All Choroi flutes are treated exclusively with linseed oil. As regular oiling is vital to the flute, we recommend our flute oil. Do not use any other oils (with the exception of pure jojoba oil) as they might damage the flute.
Made of maple wood in Europe. (We have included pictures of a model made of jacaranda wood, although we do not offer this model, simply to give you a better idea of the details).
