The Choroi Diatonic C-Flute (8+1 holes) is a classic school flute featuring the Choroi fingering system and a diatonic C-major scale. Its warm, light tone responds to minimal breath pressure, allowing players to produce a clear, flexible sound without forceful blowing. This makes it particularly enjoyable for classroom music and ensemble playing.
Unlike the German fingering system, Choroi fingering uses an additional finger hole for the left-hand little finger. This nine-hole (8+1) arrangement allows the upper finger holes to remain smaller, helping soften the higher notes and making them easier to play with balanced intonation.
The flute's specially shaped finger holes also allow half tones to be played by partially covering them. Combined with the Choroi fingering system, this provides greater control over the instrument's upper register while supporting fluent, expressive playing.
Like other Choroi flutes, this model produces a warm, flexible tone with a voice-like quality. A relaxed outward breath, natural mouth and lip positioning, and gentle finger contact all contribute to its characteristic sound. These qualities are especially valuable when several instruments are played together, allowing their tones to blend naturally.
All Choroi flutes are treated exclusively with linseed oil. As regular oiling is vital to the flute, we recommend our flute oil. Do not use any other oils (with the exception of pure jojoba oil) as they might damage the flute.
Made of maple wood in Europe. (We have included pictures of a model made of jacaranda wood, although we do not offer this model, simply to give you a better idea of the details).
